Over three million people have signed a petition calling for the removal of Amber Heard from the upcoming film Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom. Launched in 2020, the petition, aimed at DC/Warner Bros., has increased in signatures amid Johnny Depp’s defamation trial against the actress over her 2018 Washington Post op-ed.
Heard, who is set to reprise her role of Mera in the film sequel, has been crusaded to ruin Depp in Hollywood, and multiple recordings seem to have proved she both physically and emotionally abused the actor during their marriage.
The same way Depp was pushed out of his role as Jack Sparrow in the Pirates of the Caribbean, fans want to ensure the same justice is passed on Heard.

When the petition went viral, film producer Peter Safran had told the deadline that he didn’t think they would ever react to fan pressure. “One is not unaware of what is going on in the Twitter verse, but that doesn’t mean you have to react to it or take it as gospel or accede to their wishes,” he had stated. But more recently, film Journalist Grace Randolph has confirmed that Heard would have only ten minutes of screen time in the movie.
It’s unknown if her role had been intended to be brief or if it emerged due to her defamation trial.
However, Heard is expected to take the stand in court on Wednesday. Earlier, Depp’s agent Jack Whigham testified that the actress op-ed did damage to the actor’s career and that he was expected to have earned $22.5million if he starred in the Pirates of the Caribbean 6. However, Disney has opted to go in a different direction.
