'Trolls Say My Disabled Husband Can’t Satisfy Me, But They’re Wrong'

Love can happen at any time and anywhere! It struck for Hannah after watching Shane in a documentary, and YES, she reached out. The duo tied the knot in September 2020, but as their love life blossomed, they became a troll target due to their interabled relationship.

Shane Burcaw was at birth born with spinal muscular atrophy [SMA] and has been using a wheelchair since age 2.

Appearing on an episode of StyleLikeU on YouTube, the couple opened up about their sexuality, especially as the latest cruel they received was that Shane wouldn’t be able to satisfy Hannah in bed due to his condition. Most men in their DMs are usually expressive that Shane can’t have s*x, but in response, Hannah has insisted it’s not the case.

“We get a lot of comments from straight men thinking that it’s not fair that I’m with Shane and that I should be with them. People say that I couldn’t possibly be satisfied, we get that every day.”

The StyleLikeU series sees diverse individuals claim self-acceptance by stripping down to open up about style, self-image, and identity. The couple’s video was uploaded with the caption: “Laughing At Your Ableist BS,” and it sees Shane insisting that their intimacy benefits from his disability and that their intimacy isn’t just him enjoying it.

He said: “They perceive that I can’t have s*x in their very limited, missionary man f**s woman. They think that is the be-all and end-all of s*x.”

Shane added: “Little do they know. Our intimacy benefits from my disability, and our intimacy is not just me enjoying it. It doesn’t look like what you see in the movies, but I can totally do it.” He stressed that although he can’t move physically as a non-disabled, it doesn’t cause issues in the bedroom.

Shane continued: “I am more often that not the initiator.”

“A non-disabled man might come up to Hannah and start rubbing her shoulders and I just say, ‘Hey, do you wanna go have s*x?’ and I know that probably shakes people as like ‘Oh, that must be not romantic, ‘but take our world for it. After I ask that, we are romantic. When we’re in bed together, I can ask her, ‘will you roll me towards you? Or can you move my arm so I can reach your neck or check?”

Hannah weighed in, alleging that Shane, from Pennsylvania, uses his voice in ways that other people might just physically do something.

She revealed that while her husband asks her to move him into specific positions, they also have secret language for such requests. Hannah explained: “We have a shorthand for all of these things – he doesn’t say, ‘Can you move my legs under your legs?” We just know. I feel like I know his body and preferences as well as I know my own.” The couple is comfortable with each other, their relationship works, and they completely trust one another.

Hannah stressed: “The best part about our relationship is that we have comfort with each other.”

Accordingly, due to his disability, Shane has often been made to feel like a burden, but with Hannah, things are different. “I know our life will continue to be hilarious and fun and full of adventure. I feel for the first time in my life that I’m not a burden because Hannah is wholly there for me and doesn’t feel burdened by me.” Hannah further alleged that people often mistake her for Shane's nurse or caregiver while some treat him like a child.

But despite all that they face, Hannah has insisted she will as long as she can be with Shane and that her love looks beyond his disability.
