‘Aquaman 2’ Producer Refused Johnny Depp's Fans Appeal To Fire Amber Heard



The removal of Amber Heard from Aquaman 2 has been a hot debate since her fight with ex-husband Johnny Depp following domestic violence claims. Notably, Fans launched Heard’s dismissal after Depp filed a libel lawsuit against the UK tabloid The Sun for branding him a ‘wife-beater.’

However, the film producer for Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, Peter Safran, has claimed that fan pressure had little impact on whether to keep Heard in the franchise. In an interview with Deadline Hero Nation Podcast, Safran said: “I don’t think we’re ever going to react to, honestly, pure fan pressure.”

He added: “You gotta do what’s best for the movie. We felt that if it’s James Wan and Jason Momoa, it should be Amber Heard. That’s really what it was. One is not unaware of what is going on in the Twitter verse, but that doesn’t mean you have to react to it or take it as gospel or acceded to their wishes. You have to do what’s right for the film, and that’s where we landed on it.”
