Woman Fell To Her Death During A Rooftop Party In NYC's East Village

The police had reported the death of a woman who fell from the rooftop at East Village. Cameron Perrelli, a 24-year-old finance worker, attended a rooftop party in the early morning of New York City when she fell to her death.

The location of the building is Avenue A near E. 12th St., and police reported that Cameron lost her footing and fell off the rooftop. She was immediately rushed to Bellevue Hospital but couldn't be saved.

Cameron is believed to be attending a birthday party held at 202 Avenue A; then, she fell down the airway while trying to cross to an adjacent building.

The family was devastated by the woman's death, particularly her father, Louis Perrelli. He told New York Daily News, “It’s not like her to be a risk-taker. She’s not one to take those risks. I don’t get it.”

They have also been told different stories from different sources. Cameron's uncle, Michael Perrelli, said that they "don't know a lot."

Michael revealed, “We got three stories — that she was jumping from one building to the next, and we heard that she was walking on an air-conditioning vent, and then somebody just said she slipped.”

The incident has also left them questioning the safety regulations of the building. Her father also expressed his concerns over frequent reports of parties being held there. Meanwhile, Michael wondered why they don't have a "fence on top of the building."

Michael insisted that Cameron is not the "daredevil" type and wouldn't drink that much.

In Michael's eyes, Cameron never seemed to be someone who's a big partier, and she was living a good life. She was also a "really good kid" to the family.

“It’s just sad because that girl just had her whole life starting, you know? She was a good kid,” said the uncle.

Cameron is a graduate of the University of Florida and began her career in New York City in 2019. Her father wouldn't stop gushing over her daughter, "Oh my God, Cameron was an angel."

Councilwoman Carlina Rivera mentioned frequent reports of 'dangerously overcrowded' parties on the rooftop.

202 Avenue A. is a new building after the previous one was torn down that functions as a mixed-use, six-story building, The Topanga. Addressing the outcries and concerns of neighbors, the councilwoman stated, “This tragedy shows just how dangerous overcrowded or mismanaged rooftop parties have become, and how often they have little to no safety protections or monitoring.”

“If you make the decision to buy a building, you are responsible for the lives of its residents. And these landlords are not living up to that responsibility.”

She and the council are currently working on a bill to tighten the rein on rooftop partying and make tenants sign documents on the city's noise codes. This is to control the number of reports and sightings of partygoers who are dangerously jumping from one building to another when they're intoxicated at a late=night party.

The Topanga, the building where she fell from, rents out penthouses for $12,000 per month.

Cameron's father said, "Her heart definitely belonged to New York, that's for sure."

“She’s very mature, quiet, lovely. She was perfect... She was always the designated driver, the good person, the peacemaker. She was an angel — that good.”

Cameron's uncle wrote a tribute post to her death on Facebook.

In the heartwrenching post, Michael wrote, "She was so beautiful in mind, body, and soul. How do we accept her loss without anger? I would give my life to give her life back."

"So hard to find logic in a loss of a child. She will forever stay in our hearts and minds."

"Rest in peace, our angel. You will be forever in our hearts."
