The subject that touches the morbid stories on Holocaust event has never been a cheerful one. Nor was it often talked about because it is anything but a good story. The Holocaust is an event that killed millions of European Jews, causing millions others sufferings. Some experienced things they will never forget their whole life, some did not manage to live their life to the fullest and others lost their loved ones. This dark history is certainly an important one to be told to the future generation.
But shockingly, statistics showed less than 70% of Americans know the actual extensive damage of Holocaust and 66% of millennials do not really know what Auschwitz was. This photographer, then, set out to help people be educated about the horrible damages of the Holocaust and what dictatorship, racism and discrimination caused. It is never weird to ask or Google the things you do not understand. It is never weird to ask to be educated in important historical stories like this because it is a lesson to teach humanity how to be more humane.
He says, "I first started working on this historical photos project several years ago, using contemporary reference images to colorize and restore pictures from the Holocaust. I did publish the colored pictures on my Facebook and my blog, but now I realize that that wasn't nearly enough and so I worked on the picture restoration a bit more, and I'm publishing them again here. It seems to me that black and white pictures colorized will help people to better empathize with the victims of the Holocaust and I hope that any artist that is interested in working with me to make more color pictures or even to improve the ones that I've colorized so far would please contact me. I am also interested in being contacted by anyone who could help me with this history pictures project in general."
