The Girl Who Hated Math Now Works As NASA Engineer

Is Math easy? We know the answer of most people is going to be between 'no', 'hates it to the bone', and 'math can go f itself'. But, how many of us were so inspired by NASA's videos of the universe, solar system and the possibilities of life in other planets? At the very least, some of us had stayed on the screen more as we see stars twinkling from millions of years away and watching videos of unique experiments.

It wasn't easy for many people, and some gave up as they noticed how they hated physics and math. Then, they have to consider the fact that they are competing with hundreds and possibly thousands of other people who seemed to had better chances at this. The first reaction for most of us was: find another job.

That is also something that Josephine Santiago-Bond, a Filipino engineer in NASA would say. A NASA engineer that hates math, that's right, I wasn't delusional or typing that wrong.

She didn't know it was going to be at Kennedy Space Center, NASA itself. She did not even imagine that her work is going to envelop with something she loves to do.

Josephine had always dreamt big as she was heavily influenced from when she was fascinated with the indicators her mother used to bring home. She played with the different reactions acid and bases would show on the indicator and since then, she already knew where her heart is.

She quickly fell in love with the working place which used to be a summer job for her. From the environment to the people and the spirit of work they showed there. She knew this is the place for her.

Having trouble with math did not stop her.

Now, she is a happy mother and wife with one son and is still a NASA KSC Systems Engineer. So, maybe if you hate math but loves rockets, there's no need to feel discouraged about it!
