Bride Breaks Down In Tears After Cutting Down Cake And Discovering Half Of It Is Made Of Polystyrene, Caterer Arrested

Girls fantasize over their wedding months or even days before it actually happens. However, for some, the D-day is packed by tensions, high emotions, and excitements that make it hard for the bride to enjoy her day. However, even with all the disappointing weddings, few could ever match to what a Filipino bride experienced on her nuptials.

Heartbroken: Shine Tamayo, 26, is seen breaking down in tears as she discovers that half of her wedding cake is nothing more than polystyrene covered in icing

Shine Tamayo, 26 and her partner Jhon Chen, 40, paid 140,000 pisos and equivalent to ($2500) to their wedding planner to supply food and drinks to their guests only to find that half of the cake was made from Styrofoam.

As if that was not embarrassing enough, upon the couple’s arrival at the church ceremony, they discovered that the food was bit delivered.

This forced the distraught newlyweds to visit a restaurant cross the street to purchase trays of noodles, rice and other foods which were delivered to a local hotel where the reception was held.

The bride and groom discovered that the cake was a fraud when she cut into it during their reception in Pasig City, the Philippines, last month

As the visibly heartbroken bride was serving greasy street food and blackcurrant squash to her guest, she went for the cake only to find that it was fraud too.  Ms. Tamayo sliced through the top tier pretty easily but the knife met some resistance on the second tier only to discover that it had been stuffed with polystyrene.

The visibly humiliated bride, couldn’t have it any longer; she covered her face and broke down in tears before her guests. It was such an emotional disaster that guests took her and their caterer to a nearby police station.

While the top tier of the couple's cake was indeed real, the bottom was found to be fake

The police officers inspected the wedding cake; confirming that the base of was entirely made of foam and covered with red icing to conceal the fraud. Wedding planner Krisa Cananea was booked in for questioning.

Ms. Tamayo in a statement said: 'The woman we paid to do the food has ruined my wedding. She's a liar. She always asked me for money and I always gave her what she needs because I wanted my wedding to be perfect.

The couple had paid 140,000 pisos (£2,100) to their wedding planner to supply food and decorations at their reception in Pasig City, the Philippines, but the food did not turn up

'I will not accept sorry from her, an apology is not good enough, she needs to go to jail because she ruined my wedding.

'I have never been so humiliated in all my life. This was supposed to be one of my most treasured memories for my entire life. Instead, it is the worst.'

The couple say they were forced to serve blackcurrant squash to their guests

Officers took pictures of the cake and the receipts the couple held as proof of payments to the wedding coordinator Cananea who was responsible for the whole catering process. Cananea was arrested by officers of the Pasig City police station on grounds of Estafa- a form of fraud but was later released on bail.

When the food failed to turn up, they went across the road to a restaurant

A spokesman said: 'The investigation into the wedding fraud is ongoing. The bride was very distressed by her cake and the food.'We have confirmed that a large amount of money was paid for the service which was not delivered adequately. 'The provider, Miss Krissa Cananea, has been interviewed and we intend to take the case to a trial.'Well, we surely hope the bride gets justice.
