Disney Princesses Reimagined On The Mystery Novel Covers Of 1940’s And They Look Badass

We are used to seeing Disney princesses in fairylands in their pretty gowns with their 'happily ever after'. They rule kingdoms with their magic, kindness, and courage, taking on evil queens and curses. However, a freelance illustrator from San Diego, Califonia, Astor Alexander reimagined these princesses on the 1940's mystery novel covers with the illustration series "Noir Princesses".

The series features Disney princesses as badass noir characters. Basically, it is a cool and stylish crime genre that emphasizes the sexual motivations and cynical attitudes. Noir fiction heroes are self-destructive, dealing with a political, corrupt legal, or other systems. The artist has perfectly illustrated the atmosphere and the aesthetic of the genre while keeping in mind the distinct personalities of the characters.
