Geert Weggen is a Dutch citizen, an acclaimed animal photographer who has received multiple international awards for his exclusive work on red squirrels. His 6-year photography journey started when a wild fox stood on his doorstep. Geert took the opportunity and rushed in to get some meat before taking some photos. A simple friendly gesture blossomed into a longtime friendship with animals as the photographer took any chance available to snap the animals that swung by his house.

Squirrels were part of the daily entourage trooping in his studio for food but also became an important source of his living. Weggen has since been organizing squirrel workshops in his studio occurring twice a year with a maximum of 3 participants.
