Amber Heard's defense team rested their case and requested for the defamation lawsuit to be dismissed, but Judge Penney Azcarate denied them, adding that there was a "scintilla" of evidence that what she wrote was, indeed, defamatory.
The rejection incited debates and exchanges between both sides, with Heard's lawyer, Benjamin Rottenborn who objected to his own question, stating that if Depp abused her "even one time, she wins. It's that simple."
Rottenborn added that there was an "overwhelming" amount of evidence of Heard being abused by her former partner, and they're "undisputed."

Depp's lawyer Benjamin Chew debated that the court has seen "multiple credible witnesses, documents and authentic tape recordings of Miss Heard herself," which solidifies the foundation of the case. Chew added that they've gone the "extra mile of showing" how "Miss Heard physically abused him.""She's the abuser in this courtroom," stated Chew after Rottenborn's claim.

Rottenborn then brought up how the title of the op-ed was written, claiming that it should've been the core of the case as Heard wasn't the person writing it. The title was "I spoke up against sexual violence - and faced our culture's wrath. That has to change."
He added that there was no malice intended in the piece, adding that the case should be dismissed on the base of the First Amendment. Chew, in reply, quoted the "most convincing and most disgusting" which was the email exchange between the ACLU with the Washington Post.
An executive from ACLU told the editor that the piece was written by Heard who "was beaten up during her brief marriage to Johnny Depp."

Chew added from here that they may have "helped her to lie about it" and called the group as a "co-conspirator" in this case. He added that the actress had asked ACLU to "put it back in, make it more spicy" because "no-one was interested in what she had to say unless she was defaming Mr. Depp."
He then referred to when Heard infamously claimed she'd donate the $7 million settlement she received from her divorce to ACLU and the Children's Hospital. People have been grilling the actress for never going through with it and Chew said, "It's one thing for her to stiff the ACLU."
But she's added the fuel by failing to help the "sick and dying children" with the donation. and "everybody and his grandmother" knew that Heard was referring to Depp in her op-ed without having to name the actor.
He also called her act as "a scam to get $7m from the divorce settlement" to be "pocketed" instead of donated.

"Witness after witness has testified that Miss Heard, far from being a figure representing domestic violence, is in fact a recidivist perpetrator of domestic violence on Mr. Depp and others," Chew's strong statement reverberated in the room.
Heard's lawyer accused Chew of saying what he said as a "speech for an audience outside the courtroom."
"She's not the abuser. She and her witnesses will put on even more evidence she suffered at the hands of Mr Depp," said her defense team.

Heard's former personal nurse, Erin Falati, had taken the stand as well, answering questions with the help of the notes she took while she was treating her former employer.

Falati, who's also known as Erin Boerum, quoted that she had "reports history of substance abuse including an addiction to cocaine and liquor."
The note continued, "Heard does not smoke but reports she drinks 1-3 glasses of red wine a day. Familial history of substance abuse, both mother and father have abused and become dependent on stimulants. Client admits to a history of anxiety, eating disorder, Attention Deficit Disorder, bipolar disorder, codependence issues, and occasional insomnia."
She's also been interestingly described as "experiencing increased agitation recently and has had several outbursts of anger and rage. Her mood has been labile" in the note.

Falati elaborated on what she meant by "labile" during the questioning, "Emotional lability is when emotions spin on a pendulum, you see someone sad and quickly transition to extreme happiness, it's like a pendulum."
She added that she testified to having seen Heard acting this way. The nurse further added that Heard had "expressed concern" to Depp and his personal doctor, Dr. Kipper, "She is nervous about being alone while husband is working (on movie set in London) and expressed she has difficulty dealing with feelings of insecurity and jealousy when not in presences of her husband."
Falati also noted Heard's "confusion" thinking Depp wanted her out of the movie world and she commented, "I don't recall that being a sentiment."
No less than three days after this on September 2, 2014, Falati noted that Heard had "difficulty with jealousy issues and anxiety around fiance's fame and ability to interact with females often." Two days later, she was "frustrated" over a miscommunication with a wait staff. She also used to have "anger and yelling" as her coping mechanism before switching that to repeating herself calmly.
The nurse's note added on March 25, 2015, that Heard was "concerned about ability to trust fiance following argument." She additionally commented in the court that she had a "generalized memory of there being jealousy and anxiety issues including mistrust within the relationship." She did not recall Heard ever specifically saying Depp might be cheating on her.

Then on December 17, 2015, Falati shared what she saw following their fight in their penthouse in LA. Heard "had visible bright red blood appearing at center of lower lip' and that it was 'actively bleeding."
"Heard stated it was from injury sustained in an argument between her and her husband. States her head is bruised and she has lost clumps of hair in the altercation."
Then on April 21, 2016, Falati's notes recounted how Heard's mood swings when Depp arrived late for her birthday party. It read, "Heard appears to laugh and smile when talking to friends but mood turns depressed and affect flat when she is alone or talking with friend Rocky."
"Heard said: I can't believe (Depp) isn't here yet. He keeps saying he is on his way but he still hasn't shown up."
On May 11, 2016, the note revealed Heard's drug abuse habits, "Client admits to illicit drug use, and states she ingested mushrooms and MDMA simultaneously and vomited and was 'high for at least 24 hours straight."
"(Falati) reminded client that illicit drug use will not be tolerated by medical staff and that any medications or drugs that are not prescribed can cause adverse effects with her prescribed medication. Client laughed and also reported using illicit drugs (mushrooms and MDMA) on March 9 at home with a high profile male acquaintance. Client reported that her husband was not aware of the male visitor, not her illicit drug use."
Depp team's forensic accountant, Mike Spindler, testified that Depp lost a total of $40 million in earnings after Heard's op-ed.

CBS News
He lost $20.2 million from the sixth installment of 'Pirates of the Caribbean' for the role he could've reprised, Captain Jack Sparrow. He's lost an additional $20 million from non-franchise movies and other shows he didn't get to be in. The total sums up to $40,317,237.

Fans have been coming strong with their support for the actor. Many have also been opposing Heard for still having her role as Mera in 'Aquaman 2' confirmed by DC.

A petition that was started years ago after alleged abuse against Depp was made has received over 3.5 million signatures. The petition's description stated, "Amber Heard has been exposed as a domestic abuser by Johnny Depp."
"In his lawsuit, Johnny Depp describes many incidents of domestic abuse that he suffered at the hands of his (then) wife Amber Heard, including one incident where she punched him twice in the face and another where she shattered his finger with a vodka bottle, and his finger had to be surgically reattached. He will bear the scar from that for the rest of his life."
"Men are victims of domestic abuse, just like women. This must be recognized, and action must be taken to prevent a known abuser from being celebrated within the entertainment industry. Do the right thing. Remove Amber Heard from Aquaman 2."
