Curious to know why JoJo Siwa was absent from Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards? The Dance Moms Alum has finally set the record straight as she has revealed she wasn’t invited despite being nominated for Favorite Social Media Star. Sadly, she lost the award to TikTok star Dixie D’Amelio.
Her absence came as somewhat of a shock, given that the singer has been closely tied with the network after signing a deal with them in 2017.
But back in September 2021, Siwa tweeted her frustrations at Nickelodeon, who produced her movie The J Team, which aired on Paramount +. The singer claimed that Nickelodeon wouldn’t allow her to perform her songs on her D.R.E.A.M Tour, which started in January, yet insisted: “These are MY songs, MY voice, MY writing. Does this seem fair???”
Speaking about her absence, the children’s performer said in a short clip with a glitter filer: “A lot of you have been asking me why I’m not at the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards tonight and the answer is very simple – I wasn’t invited. I’m not sure why, but I just didn’t get an invite.”
With this turn of events, Nickelodeon will have to devise a perfect excuse for this.
However, a few have speculated the no-invitation has to do with Siwa breaking her iconic look, including coming out to the public.
The singer has chopped her signature look if you haven't known, and she's downright delighted about it.
