Teacher, 26, Married Her Student Lover She Had S[e]x With As The Charges Dropped

Baylee A. Turner, then 23, was charged for laying her hands on one of her students during her first year as an English teacher at Sarcoxie High School in Missouri. In February 2019, the two admitted to having had a relationship and slept at Turner's home in Sarcoxie. Turner has been charged for sexual conduct towards a minor, but she was released in May 2019 after the student, who's turned 19, married her.

The couple legalized their relationship in May 2019, which means he cannot be made to testify against his wife anymore.

The former teacher was also facing up to 4-year prison time. The prosecutors have also gotten her to surrender her teaching license, which was their purpose. The Missouri state law prohibits any individuals working on school grounds from ever having illicit relationships with the students.

Turner had been teaching English for middle schoolers for two years before she was transferred to high school levels. She's since resigned.
