Hooters waitress Ali rolled her eyes when she showed a $10 tip in one of her TikTok clips showing how much she makes over the hours. The woman who works at one of Hooters' chain restaurants in Savannah, Georgia, gets slammed for being ungrateful to smaller tips.
She captioned her video, "YES, we are grateful. We also work our [butts] off."
Ali invited her friends who started counting the dollars they've earned during the hours they worked on.
"What we make in 4 hours at Hootiez," she shared. "OK guys, we're doing what we make at Hooters in a day, and we just got our first couple of tables, so we're gonna show you that now."
"My first table, I got a $50, which was nice. It was a four-top. My second table, I got $11," she showed the receipts. "My third table I got $20."
She went on, "And then I got $10 from a really old couple. But, whatever."
"My fifth table, I got a $100 bill from a single guy," she happily added. "My regular just came in and instead of giving me a tip that I have to declare, he Venmoed me."
She showed the Venmo receipt of the guy who sent her $300.
"Alright, y'all, this one made me mad, but it's whatever. They left me $10, wrote it on the bill, scribbled it out, and wrote five when I walked away," said Ali who was visibly upset. "Why?"
Securing high tips is the best and might even be the only way for waitresses to make money. With $2.13 per hour according to federal laws, workers like Ali depends on tips to make ends meet.
Counting everything that Ali mentioned in the clip as hers, she made a total of $521 in tips.
Many comments complimented her beauty and joked how they want to apply to Hooters as well. One wrote, "Honestly I'd work at Hooters for the tips like there not that bad."
"At first I caught myself judging, then I realized I'm just mega jealous of you!" commented another.
But her eye-rolling at smaller tips had got people calling her being "ungrateful".
With over 8 million views and 1.3 million likes on a single clip, Ali says she is teaching people how to hustle and be "independent".
