Woman Recreates Pinterest Outfits To Show Double Standards Of Fashion Trends

Let’s introduce you to the world of Brooklyn Allen, a 23-Year-Old social media influencer who enjoys sharing fashion motivation with her audiences on TikTok. Recently, the part-time retail worker witnessed numerous slim women participating in a trend that involved recreating Pinterest looks. So she opted to take part herself on noticing the body type being represented.

Brooklyn Allen, 23, recreates Pinterest outfits to show the infuriating double standard of fashion trends on different body types and shapes.

To participate wasn’t just the aim for Allen; she equally wanted to use the avenue to show the infuriating double standard of fashion trends on different body types and shapes. In a now-viral clip captioned: “Pinterest Outfits on a Fat Person,” Allen claimed the key accessory that makes outfits so desirable and perfect to society is a flat stomach.

Allen claimed the missing key accessory (for fat women) that makes outfits so desirable and perfect to society is a flat stomach.

“When I refer to a flat stomach as an accessory, I am in no way being mean or bitter. I’m completely okay with thin women using what they have, but I want people to understand that it’s not the same for fat women. Our fat stomachs are systemically considered imperfection while a thin stomach is something that society would see an elevation to an outfit.” Allen told Buzzfeed.

She added: “Fat women don’t have the privilege of accessorizing with their fat stomachs unless we want stares and rude comments.” Allen’s TikToks has so far stressed the vast double standard with fashion trends that have to do significantly with systematic fatphobia. Allen continued: “I don’t like world ‘flattering’ anymore because I’ve noticed that what’s considered flattering on fat women is clothing that hides our bodies.”

“Fat women have been ridiculed for ages for wearing crop tops, short skirts/shorts, and just anything that shows skin. Whereas skinny women are celebrated in these items because it shows off their thin bodies – which there’s nothing with, it would just be nice not to be treated differently as a fat woman.” When it comes to TikTok, Allen feels the platform has done many good and bad for the body positivity movement.

In all, Allen hopes that people take away from her TikToks the concept that all bodies should have access to fashion.

On the good side, Allen claims she has met some most loving, accepting people that she now considers friends, while on the bad side, the platform has pushed a lot of women who would barely classify as mid-size to the forefront of the movement.
