In the age of smartphones and Artificial Intelligence, it’s downright remarkable how technology, notably Google Maps and Google Street View, helps us (humans) navigate both at home and abroad. While Google Street View had initially been limited to a few streets in the US, it has expanded to cover every nook and crannies of Planet Earth. Jon Rafman has indeed found a slice of humanity in this digital terrain.
He has since 2008 been exploring through the imagery in search of an unusual and the unexpected. The aftermath is remarkable, especially as Rafman captures different visions of the world’s cities and streets. Men, women, children, and animals from all walks of life are subjects of Rafman’s selection, and it does range from people crouched by the side of the road, people staring at the Google cameras to a few just standing by, oblivious. We’ve compiled Rafman’s latest, and they are sure to leave you mind-blown. Take a look.
