18 Movie Facts Directors Aren’t Willing To Share With Viewers



Some movies tend to open door to interesting things, including the shooting process, the actresses and actors involved, the director as well as other things associated with the creative process.

Most of the things we see on the big screen are regarded as the final product, but interestingly some moments are kept outside of the attention of viewers.

#1 Dallas Buyers Club

The Script for the movie Dallas Buyer Club was on the table for almost 20years before becoming a movie. Canceled 137 times, the budget of the movie was relatively small – less than $6million. Makeup artists hired for the movie had only $250 at their disposal. In doing their jobs well, these artists used charcoal instead and still amazingly won the Oscar for Best Makeup. In total, the movie earned over $55 million. 

#2 A Star Is Born

Lady Gaga acknowledged she was basically displaying herself, a talented singer that few individuals believed would succeed. In A Star Is Born, Lady Gaga didn’t, however, wear any makeup for almost the whole film. It’s believed Bradley Cooper removed all of her makeup during the 1st audition in order to appear not confident about her talent and her personality. 

#3 Once Upon A Time In Hollywood

In a bid to make Leonardo DiCaprio appear very convincing for his role in Once Upon A Time In Hollywood, Tarantino made sure the actor followed a strict diet under the guidance of professionals. Leonardo stopped eating pasta, desserts and almost anything that has sugar. His trainer made sure he does push-ups daily. In the course of shooting the movie, Leonardo forgot his lines and experienced a nervous breakdown, but luckily it was improvised. 

#4 Joker

Lead character Joaquin Phoenix learned how to laugh in several ways. From giggling and sobbing to a very loud-out-laughter, the actor also watched a lot of recording of individuals who had suffered from uncontrollable laughter. 

#5 The Irishman

Martin Scorsese tried to shoot The Irishman 10 ten years earlier, but couldn’t make it happen with any movie studio. The producers either want to cut down the budget or the duration – one issue or the other. Fortunately, a contract was signed with Netflix, who provided everything needed. In the end, $159 million was spent on the movie and the runtime was for 3 hours. 

#6 Rocketman

Taron Egerton played the major in the film hinged on Elton John. With the casting choice quite reasonable, the actor sings very well and Sir Elton knew about that too well. Entering into the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, Taron sang one of Elton’s songs and later got the role. Elton then invited him to hang out and equally showed him his costumes and memoirs. The makeup artist who worked on the film also convinced Taron to shave his hair in the front in order to imitate the star’s bald spot.

Only Lovers Left Alive, a Jim Jarmusch’s drama hinged on vampires undeniably won the hearts of viewers with its unique atmosphere and characters. Shockingly, all the actors were actually wearing special wigs were human hair got mixed with yak and goat fur.  

#8 Bohemian Rhapsody

Rami Malek for Bohemian Rhapsody really did a wonderful job playing Freddie Mercury. But he admitted he was never a Queen fan and didn’t know their songs. Malek had to, however, wear special tooth prosthetics in a bid to look like the musician. After shooting the movie, Malek kept the teeth as a souvenir. 

#9 Guardians Of The Galaxy

Chris Pratt stole his Star-Lord costume for a very good reason. In an interview, Pratt admitted he did the role in a bid to visit ill children dressed as Star-Lord. ‘I want to follow the example of other actors as well as visit children. It’s a great opportunity.’ Pratt said. 

#10 The Theory Of Everything

Eddie Redmayne met with Stephen Hawking before working on the Theory of Everything. For about 4 months, the actor worked closely with a dance teacher and learned how to control his body better. 40 people suffering from amyotrophic lateral sclerosis were also invited. Redmayne remained motionless and ended up with curvature of the spine later on. Stephen Hawking saw the movie and happily sent the director an e-mail where he revealed he loved Eddie’s performance. 

#11 Armageddon

Reportedly, Armageddon has 168 mistakes and the biggest mistake is that NASA didn’t permit its non-professional to go into space because the risk was actually great. 

#12 Elizabeth: The Golden Age

During the shooting of Elizabeth: The Golden Age, the cathedral was undergoing a restoration. So, the director had to give to workers costumes and tools for stone cutting. The workers used for the movie are real builders and masons. 

#13 The Imitation Game

Benedict Cumberbatch in The Imitation Game got so obsessed with his character, - a legendary mathematician Alan Turing. He claimed that at some point, he couldn’t stop crying on thinking about the fate of Alan. Turing was, however, prosecuted in 1952 for homosexual acts, which resulted in committing suicide. 

#14 It Chapter Two

Initially, the director of It Chapter Two wasn’t aware Bill Skarsgard, known as Pennywise the Dancing Clown could move his eyeballs in different directions. Bill during the shooting process rolled his eyes, which really scared some of his other colleagues. 

#15 Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri

Not all viewers observed a bright red appeared throughout the entire movie. The bright red color was to constantly remind us about the message of the lead character who wrote on three bright red billboards. 

#16 Green Book

Viggo Mortensen, who played Tony Lip had first declined the role, but after some convincing, he agreed and had to gain some weight. He revealed he had to stick with an Italian diet, eating a lot of desserts, pasta, and pizzas.

#17 La La Land

Emma Stone personally inspired the costume designer to make her bright yellow dress. In 2014, Emma had appeared in a yellow dress at The premiere of the Amazing Spider-Man. 

#18 Kingsman: The Secret Service

In the movie, a scene presented an unexpected deluge of water in a closed room. According to the director, the shooting of that scene was partially underwater and was the most challenging experience. On the first day of shooting, an incident occurred – due to a computer error, the entire crew was underwater. ‘The actors weren’t acting, but were terrified.’ The director explained.
