The crafty teenager messaged her boyfriend, saying that she had been chosen to appear on the dating reality show, and wouldn't be able to speak to him again. 

Ending the message with 'it was nice knowing you'. She promptly got texts and calls from her horrified boyfriend but promptly ignored them.

Sharing their hilarious exchange in a screen grab to her twitter handle,, she wrote: 'When ur boyfriend doesn’t reply for a while drastic actions are the only option '.

The messages read: 'Just to let u know I've been asked to go on Love Island and I've decided to go take the opportunity '.

 

She continued: 'I wanted to tell u today but after Saturday I won't be able to talk to u as I'm going into lockdown.' 

Dealing her final blow, she concluded: 'It was nice knowing you.' An immediate reply from her furious boyfriend then read: 'Answer the phone now'. 

Twitter users quickly warmed up to the thread, which had a massive 40,000 likes and retweets, to share her clever tactic. 

One follower wrote: 'Looool this is jokes, imagine what was going through his mind at that time (sic)'.

Another tagged her boyfriend and added: ' Should start doing this.. maybe you’ll actually not ignore my notifications 24/7'.

However, men weren't quite  impressed, with one writing: 'Typical bird being dramatic'.
