This ‘Devil’s Horns’ Sunrise Photo Went Viral And It’s 100% Real

People travel miles and to different places to see that excellent sunrise these places are famous for, but we are pretty sure that you wouldn’t have seen any sunrise like the one we are going to talk about in this blog. There are songs on the sunrise, like the one once Norah Jones had sung.

Elais Chasiotis who is a photography enthusiast had spent his last few days of 2019 in the country of Qatar and she said that the trip was absolutely worth it. During one of the days in the trip, there was a solar eclipse and the Sun began to rise above the horizon, and therefore, the Sun looked like a devil rising from the water and it was a scene to be watched, and we have all the images that Chasiotis captured.

Astronomy has always attracted Chasiotis, since the time she was a kid and she has been an amateur photographer for the last 15 years as well. She took photos of the coastal city of Al Wakrah, Qatar when it was the morning of December 26, 2019, especially when an annular eclipse was on its way.

Just to make it all clear, it wasn’t all pure chance and luck that Chasiotis got to click them. He chose a place with an open horizon intentionally where he could get a perfect view of the eclipsed Sun that was emerging from the waters, rising in the sky. He hoped that the optical effects like the inferior mirage would be visible and he was very lucky to get them captured. He also mentioned that the weather conditions also were not good at the start because there were a lot of haze and low clouds in the southeast.

He was very worried that he couldn’t get anything out of the eclipse but when the sun had finally begun to rise, it looked like it was in two separate pieces, some sort of red horns piercing the sea. The sun then took a form of a crescent and also had that so-called Etruscan vase inferior mirage effect visible. Because of the way it had looked, the sunrise was called the evil sunrise.

Chasiotis did not find this wicked at all. He said “It was indeed the most stunning sunrise I have ever seen! The only problem was that I missed the annular phase of the eclipse (“the ring of fire”) due to the clouds. When the sun reappeared, it was a crescent again. Despite being clouded for the main part of the eclipse, I felt very rewarded. Now, I am looking forward to the next annular eclipse in June 2020 and the next total solar eclipse in December 2020. Total solar eclipses are the most awesome sights in nature.”

He had used a Sony A7 II motionless camera with the Sigma 150-600mm F/5-6.3 DG OS HSM lens to capture that breathtaking sight.

People absolutely loved the pictures and couldn't stop admiring them
