Demi Lovato Reveals She 'Felt Fooled' By Ex-Fiancé And Their Relationship Was False Advertising



Demi Lovato called off her engagement to fiancé Max Ehrich in September 2020 after dating for about six months. Lovato’s relationship with the actor is now explored in her New YouTube Documentary, ‘Dancing with the Devil, which features both her personal and professional life.

The pop star, 28, has been quite open to the public about her struggles with addiction, eating disorder, career, and whirlwind breakup with Emmy-nominated actor, Max. In the docu-series, the ‘I Love Me singer shared what happened during their relationship, revealing it was false advertising. 

Lovato said that she got engaged to a stranger. “I think I rushed into something that I thought was what I was supposed to do. I realized as time went on that I didn’t know the person that I was engaged to. We were only together four or five months, and honestly, it was false advertising.” She explained.

She added: “The hardest part of the breakup was mourning the person I thought I was. But I’m not the only one who felt fooled. I mean, I was just as shocked as the rest of the world at some of the things that were said and done.” Looking at the brighter side, Lovato stated: “There’s so much more of me that I have yet to explore. One of the good things about this experience is that I’ve used this time to look within.”

The documentary equally featured Lovato emphasizing how the breakup affected her perceptions of her sexuality. She said: “I feel like I’m actually too queer to marry a man in my life right now. I’m not willing to put a label on it right this second, I think I will get there, but there’s a lot of things I have to do for myself first.”

Accordingly, documentary footage showed Lovato talking to the camera a few days after the breakup with Max. She had said: “I’m really sad that things ended the way that they did. Good news I haven’t picked up any hard drugs or anything like that. I’m hanging in there. Ugh, it’s just shitty.”

Nonetheless, the pair dating at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic in March and quarantined together much into the spring. Demi was opened about her relationship with Max and had in an interview admitted that the relationship was partially an attempt to “prove the world (she was) OK.” They were vocal about their romance and even made things official in Justin Bieber and Ariana Grande’s music clip ‘Stuck With U.’

On the other hand, the aftermath of their breakup was undeniably messy, with Max claiming that he learned about the split from the press and accused Lovato of exploiting their breakup for clout. Then, a source insisted that Max knew about the breakup even before it hit the tabloids.

Both Max and Demi were vocal about their relationship and even made things official in Justin Bieber and Ariana Grande’s music clip ‘Stuck With U.’
